Applications to graduate business programs are on the rise

Graduate business education is experiencing a remarkable resurgence, with applications soaring globally after a period of decline. The Graduate Management Admission Council's (GMAC) latest report reveals a substantial 12% uptick in business school applications from 2023 to 2024, marking a significant turnaround following two years of decreasing numbers.

Traditional program structures are en vogue again

This surge is primarily attributed to a renewed demand for full-time, on-campus learning experiences. More than half of the institutions surveyed by GMAC reported growth in these traditional programs. The trend aligns with broader post-pandemic student preferences. Earlier GMAC studies and reports from consulting firm CarringtonCrisp have indicated a growing preference for in-person educational experiences among prospective students. Interestingly, the growth wasn't limited to traditional formats. Online and hybrid programs also witnessed increased applications year-over-year. This suggests a diversification in student preferences and program offerings.

Increase in financial assistance

This upward trend in applications coincides with an increase in financial assistance offered by business programs, potentially addressing cost barriers that have historically deterred some applicants.
