HHL is not only Germany’s oldest business school; it also is one of the country’s leading management institutions. It offers international business education based on the highest academic standards. Founded in 1898, HHL was the birthplace of modern management education. From its inception, HHL has been committed to rigorous management instruction and research. It was restructured as private business school in 1992 with full university status and the right to confer doctoral degrees.
Since its refounding, the philosophy behind all HHL programs has been to focus on the student by offering close student-faculty interaction, in-depth business and academic experiences, while at the same time developing students’ leadership potential and networking skills. It is HHL’s mission to educate effective and responsible business leaders.

Regardless of whether you want to see a major sporting event or enjoy a cultural evening with classical music – in Leipzig you will find whatever you are looking for. Choose from over 900 bars, cafés and restaurants, more than 67 museums, galleries and exhibitions and a total of 35 playhouses, theaters and concert halls. HHL’s campus is located directly across from the central stadium and only a few hundred meters from the city center of Leipzig. Nestled on the green banks of the river Elster, the buildings are surrounded by attractive parkland and extensive sports facilities.
Financial Aid and Scholarships are available and are being allocated based on need and academic merit.
4 HHL Scholarships for Effective and Responsible Leadership
The HHL offers four Scholarship for Effective and Responsible Leadership, each of which covers 15,000 € of the tuition fee of the full-time M.Sc. program, targets successful future business leaders who want to study in HHL's Master Program in Management (M.Sc.) starting in March or September 2012.
Scholarship applicants must hold or be in the process of obtaining a first degree in business or economics (at least 180 ECTS credits) with an above average result. Furthermore a GMAT score of at least 650 is required.
- Student loans and education funds
Low-cost student loans are available from various banks (including Sparkasse Leipzig, Deutsche Kreditbank AG and KfW Bank). Additionally, CareerConcept AG offers financing of the tuition fee by an education fund. After graduation you have to pay back a salary dependent sum, so that you are not saddled with a fixed debt. The amount and duration of the payment is agreed in advance.

AACSB International: In 2004, HHL's commitment to quality and continuous improvement was confirmed when it received the prestigious accreditation by AACSB International, the top accrediting agency for business schools worldwide. The maintenance of accreditation for a further five years was granted in April 2009.
ACQUIN: The M.Sc. Program was accredited by ACQUIN in 2006. In 2009, also both MBA programs have successfully achieved the ACQUIN accreditation. In the light of the constantly growing competition for the best students this nationwide accreditation objectively confirms the advanced quality of HHL's study programs and demonstrates its high reputation among leading business schools.
