Studying at the Warwick Business School

Warwick Business School (WBS) is one of Europe's best university business schools. The rigorous standards it sets in both teaching and research have won formal accreditation from management associations in the USA, Europe, and the UK. It is a department of the highly-rated University of Warwick, and is sited on an attractive and spacious parkland campus with the full range of social, cultural and sporting facilities.

With 300 staff members and around 4,000 students from over 100 countries, WBS is both large and international. Almost half the students come from outside the UK. The lively and active Alumni Association has over 27,000 members around the globe.

Founded less than 40 years ago, the school's aim is to provide top quality research and teaching for businesses, practicing managers and future leaders.

Besides the Masters mentioned above the Warwick Business School also offers MBA programs.

The Location

The University of Warwick campus is a spacious and exciting environment, with everything you need on a single site. It’s a vibrant, multicultural space which provides you with a stimulating and supportive backdrop against which to study. On campus you can find every service you need: supermarket, bars, cafes, restaurants, post office, hairdresser, launderette, banks, travel agency and health centre – just some of the facilities which make it easy for you to deal with everyday life while concentrating on your studies.

Campus offers a vast array of entertainment but there’s still plenty of space to relax; we offer a great balance between urban and rural life. We’re set in an environment of quiet contemplation with lakes, meadows and woods surrounding us and yet just over an hour away from London by train, 10 minutes from historic Coventry and around 20 minutes from Birmingham, Stratford-upon-Avon and Warwick. City lights or the tranquillity of the beautiful Warwickshire countryside are both close by.

Our campus includes one of the largest Student Union’s in Europe, home to over 300 societies, the largest Arts Centre outside of London with a concert hall, cinema, theatre and art gallery, and a broad range of sports facilities including swimming pools and tennis courts.

Students can apply to live in postgraduate halls of residence on campus, or opt to live off campus in nearby Coventry, Royal Leamington Spa or Kenilworth. All non-EU students are gauaranteed a room on campus if they apply for accommodation by July 31st.

Financial Aid

For Masters that start in 2012, £ 2,000,000 in scholarship funding is available for postgraduate students at WBS. Some scholarships were awarded by WBS, some by the University and others by external organisations like Grupo Santander.

Ranking

WBS sets high standards in both research and teaching. We have won acclaim and approval from all the leading national and international assessors and accreditation bodies as well as from independent media.

The December 2008 Research Assessment Exercise rated 75 percent of our research at 3* and above, placing us third in the UK. WBS submitted 130 academics for assessment, nearly 90 percent, so this statistic is a real reflection of high quality running across the breadth and depth of research at WBS. HEFCE has separately rated teaching at WBS as ‘excellent’, which is the highest level given in the assessment. Warwick Business School programmes stack up in rankings and surveys across the board:

  • With triple accreditation and high rankings across international newspapers and surveys, WBS is firmly in the top 1% of business schools worldwide.
  • WBS was rated as 'excellent' - the highest possible rating - in its most recent teaching quality assessment, managed by The Quality Assurance Agency for Higher Education.
  • The Financial Times ranks the Warwick MBA 42nd in the world for full-time MBAs.
  • In 2009, the Warwick Executive MBA was ranked in the top 35 in the world by the Financial Times.
  • The Warwick MBA by distance learning is rated first in the UK by The Economist.
  • The Economist ranks the Warwick MBA 22nd in the world, a rise of 28 places in five years.
  • The Complete University Guide ranks WBS #1 for accounting & finance.
  • The Financial Times placed WBS in the top five UK institutions for executive short courses, customised for organisations.
  • The Warwick MSc Management was included in the Financial Times MSc Management ranking for the first time in 2011 and it achieved directlly position 48.

Accreditation

WBS is the first business school in the United Kingdom to hold triple accreditation - recognition of our teaching quality from the three major, global, management education bodies.

Seeking AMBA, AACSB and EQUIS accreditations may seem like overkill, but our rationale is clear. AMBA operates a standards-based system, which WBS has always valued, and which is trusted by applicants. Meanwhile, AACSB and EQUIS are mission-based accreditations, evaluating our activities from international perspectives. The status of the various 'kite marks' varies throughout the world, which makes multiple accreditation important for a school with an international scope.

Equis is the quality inspectorate for the European Foundation for Management Development. We currently have Equis accreditation until 2011, having been first accredited in March 2000. WBS was the first institution in the United Kingdom to be accredited by the US-based AACSB International. We first gained accreditation in 1999.

WBS meets the high standards for quality and relevance required by the Association of MBAs. All paths to The Warwick MBA were first accredited in 1999 and have been re-accredited until 2014. In 2007, the MSc in Management achieved Pre-Experience Masters in General Management accreditation from the Association of MBAs.
