You are taught by world-leading academics who combine professional practice with teaching and research activity to bring up-to-date business knowledge to our Masters programmes.

The Location

As the third largest city in the UK, Leeds is an exciting, vibrant and cosmopolitan place to study. Located in the heart of northern England, surrounded by culture, history and national parks, it offers some of the most affordable student accommodation in the country, and some of the most reasonable overall living costs.

With leading rugby, cricket and football facilities the city can satisfy most sporting interests. The Edge is our state-of-the-art fitness, sport and well-being facility, which includes a 25m eight lane swimming pool and the largest fitness suite of any UK university. The breathtaking scenery of the Yorkshire Dales is a 40-minute drive from campus, and you can reach Yorkshire’s coastline, steeped in heritage and beauty, in less than an hour. Leeds is also a short train ride from York, home to the famous Minster and the Shambles, and steeped in Roman and Viking history.

The city is also rich in nightlife. With two leading regional theatres and a wide array of cafes, restaurants, bars and nightclubs to cater for all tastes, Leeds is an excellent place to socialise and unwind.

A truly global community

Come to Leeds University Business School and you will be part of a truly international university. Each year over 5,000 students from 145 countries choose to study with us and we have staff of 99 different nationalities, and links with over 300 institutions worldwide. Leeds is part of the Worldwide Universities Network which comprises 19 research-intensive institutions spanning six continents.

Even though the scale of the University may be impressive, it still provides a personal service and has been ranked highly for its arrival services for international students.

Financial Aid

We award a number of scholarships to students from the UK, EU and international students. However there are still a limited number so we recommend you apply early.

Some scholarships are available for specific programmes including International Business, Marketing and Management.

As you’d expect of an internationally diverse business school in a diverse university, we look to recruit students from different countries and some scholarships are available for students from particular parts of the world.

Applicants who have secured sponsorship through work or have been awarded other scholarships will not be eligible for a Leeds University Business School scholarship.

In addition, the University of Leeds has a portfolio of scholarships and bursaries – Business School students are eligible to apply.

American citizens with a minimum of 3.5 GPA in their bachelor’s degree can apply for a Fulbright Award to study in the UK.

Why to study here

Commercially connected

We focus on developing strong links with local, national and international businesses. As well as informing our teaching and research, this provides networking opportunities for our students and ensures our graduates are able to access high-calibre employment opportunities.

Our courses are highly respected by local and international employers. Many involve work based learning – through projects, placements and workshops with leading employers.

Enhancing employability

Most Masters programmes include the support of a professional development tutor who will work with you on career development to help you plan for your future. You are encouraged to understand your individual strengths, refine your career objectives and develop the skills to manage your career.

You benefit from personal career coaching, planning workshops, and application and interview support. And you can access all the career information, employer events and graduate vacancies we hold in our highly acclaimed Careers Centre. The Centre won two Awards for Excellence in 2011 (Association of Graduate Careers Advisory Services).

Support for entrepreneurs

If you’re interested in developing and running your own business in the UK, you can get support from Spark – a Careers Centre initiative for students and graduates.

Professional focus

Alongside theories, facts and critical analysis, our programmes place strong emphasis on professional skills, such as effective communication, teamwork, leadership and intercultural understanding. We prepare you with the transferable skills employers look for when recruiting.

Enterprising culture

Since 1995, the University of Leeds has produced 101 spin-out companies – businesses originally formed within the University – the second largest number in the higher education sector in the UK. We currently have 44 active spin-out companies.

Reinforcing the University’s enterprise credentials, six of these companies are listed (more than any other UK university), with a market capital value of approx £188m (IP Group Annual Report, March 2012).

Research-Informed Real-World Learning

One advantage of studying at a research-intensive university is the way in which we encourage our leading academics to filter the latest critical thinking into teaching, which means you benefit from a research-informed curriculum. Taught by industry leaders, our programmes give you up-to-date business knowledge – the kind of learning that translates directly from the classroom to your career.
