UCD Smurfit CEMS MiM or Bocconi MiM

    Hello,

reflecting on your career perspectives after the MIM is very important. And there are several valuable aprooaches to do this. You can start from a broad perspective and check career perspectives of your favorite MIM program in general (e.g., where did last year's graduates find a job? How fast? Which salary?) - or from a rather specific perspective (e.g., what are your career chances with that MIM in a specific industry or company?).

Please read my eBook Business Masters - How you find the best Master in Management or MBA carefully and learn the tricks to find answers to these questions. Particularly check the TALK TO and the READ sections.

To give you an idea of my approach: You can ask the school about information where their graduates found a job after the MIM. Or you could ask the school which firms regularly come to the campus to recruit and if they recruit for jobs in Ireland or abroad. But there are more options to do, also to find out about career chances in India. Again: I recommend you to read my ebook.

    Best wishes,
    Thomas

    Hi,
I got an admit from UCD in Master in management programme, but I have doubts about my future in Ireland after doing this degree and about its recognition in India as it is a one year course.

Can you please help me weather I should move forward with my decision or not?

Hi there, thanks for the valuable information! I'll try to analyze my options in that way.

It is actually the Bocconi MSc in International Management that is on position 10 in the FT ranking. That's why I struggle a bit to position the regular MSc in Management from Bocconi.
The programme at Smurfit in ranked 15 (or 16 perhaps, anyway) and will be obtained with the CEMS MIM as well which is ranked 9th.

    Thanks!

    Hi there,

if you want to analyze Master in Management programs thoroughly regarding their characteristics and also career value - or if you want to compare them even with programs from other schools - I always recommend a strategic and multidimensional approach. Compare programs along several dimensions and don't rely just on one article or personal opinion.

You find my full approach in my eBook "Business Masters - How you find the best Master in Management or MBA", particularly in the ANALYZE section.

    • How do you analyze and compare programs?
    • How do you get first-hand information?
    • How do you read rankings and which rankings can be important in the absence of a direct MIM ranking?
    • How do you find out about career options fo a specific program?
      etc.

By the way... the Bocconi MIM is ranked on position 10 in the FT MIM Ranking 2018.

    Best wishes,
    Thomas from MIM Compass

    Hi there,

I applied for MiM programs at different schools and shortlisted 2 of them where I got an offer:
1 - CEMS MIM at UCD Smurfit School of Business
2- MSc in Management at Bocconi (not international management)

Milan and Bocconi especially appeal more to me, though the program itself may sound better at UCD: I don't find any review or ranking about the Bocconi MiM.

Any thoughts, reviews about the Bocconi MiM? What choice would be the most valuable?

Background: I will get an MSc in Business Economics soon, and I hold a BSc in Business Engineering (which is basically a combination of business studies and applied sciences).
Foreground: no real preference in terms of first employment, though I would like an international exposure (mostly in Europe) and the VC industry appeals to me.

    Thanks for your insights!
