shortlisting schools based on GRE score

  • Posted by - pinky - on 7 April 2014 - 7:30pm

    Hi Thomas,
Please suggest a few good schools for Masters in Management that i can safely apply based on my profile given below :

Work experience : 7 months till date as a software engineer
    GRE score - 307(quant: 154 ,verbal: 154 ,AWA:3).
    B.E (Electrical and Electronics) CGP - 7.14
    Higher secondary : 87.1%
    Tenth class : 87.8%

I haven't taken the IELTS yet.
Can i apply to the schools with my GRE score first and later on submit my IELTS score?

Also do you think i should take the GMAT to improve my chances of getting an admission into a better school?

Are there any good schools that offer admission based on the IELTS score only?

    thanks in advance

      Hi there,

as for the procedure - what you should send first and what can you send later - you need to check the individual requirements of the schools.

As for GMAT or not, it depends where you want to apply and whether the school requires it. Most schools are not limited to the GMAT - instead, they allow for other tests such as the GRE or even an on-campus test as well. If you want to play save (e.g., if you want to make sure to be able to apply also for programs that ONLY requires the GMAT and does not accept other tests), then yes do the GMAT.

As for shortlisting schools, I never recommend schools as this is the job of the student. I do, however, offer a method on how to find good programs in this jungle of programs and particularly those that fit your profile. I have summarized my approach in my ebook: 'Roadmap to your Master in Business Degree 2014'

      Best wishes
      Thomas
