Prospects After MIB

  • Posted by - ishaanday - on 6 September 2015 - 12:58pm

    Hello,

I am a final year student at a reputed Indian University Studying my Bachelors in Communications and Media, English and Psychology. I intended to do my Masters Degree in International Business and had shortlisted Grenoble Graduate School of Business as it is well reputed and accredited and also has a campus in Singapore through a partner University.

However, there is no clarity on what kind of jobs, graduates of such a degree do get! The popular answers one gets when searching online is marketing manager, management analyst, financial manager etc. Is it possible for graduates to be able to jump to such high positions right after graduation?

Also, as i am passionate about Automobiles, what are prospects of working in the automobile industry right after A Masters in International Business? What kind of positions in general are open to graduates of an MIB?

    Regards,
    Ishaan

      Hi

This is Sandeep .I have been selected for the masters program in international business at University of Leeds and Msc International HRM at Henley Business School University of reading.

I need to know further few details about this program. It will be a great help if you can help to know further about the career prospects or placement after the course at Leeds university and Henley business school.Further which program is better in terms of employability and average starting salary.

since,I will be on a student loan, it is very important for me to understand the ROI.

      Thanking in advance.....

        Dear Thomas,

As much I understood MIB at Leeds will be better in terms of ROI.But even Henley doesn't seem to be bad.So here again there is a confusion. Can you give your personal opinion for choosing one of the two.

          Hi there,

I never give my personal opinion here about choosing one schol over the other. First, I am not able to do it because only you know yourself and can therefore assess the fit between a specific program and your profile. Second, it is not my responsibility to do that but yours.

I do, however, provide assistance on how you can do it by yourself - again: Follow my methodology outlined in my eBook. I know this means investing some money and effort - but the result is much more effective than a quick, superficial answer that many people want from me in this forum.

          Best wishes
          Thomas

        Hi Sandeep,

you raise the right questions. You have two options right now and you want to investigate information on which one offers you better career prospects.

I describe several ways to do this properly in my MIM eBook - How you find the best Master in Management. You will particularly read the SEARCH and ANALYZE PROGRAM chapters. But I also recommend to you read the eBook from the beginning on. Why? Because you may get a different view on the whole area of business masters and may want to include your individual career goals in your analysis of Leeds and henley.

So, take an afternoon or two and read it carefully. Then use the logic of this eBook and apply it when you compare the two programs.

        Best wishes
        Thomas

Thank you, Kush. I see you have internalized my approach (as outlined in my MIM eBook) and understood that this is a very good waya to get answers.

Inshaan, in addition to what Kush said:

You find an overview on target industries for MIM graduates in my MIM Survey Infographic (abnd even more details in the survey itself).

A marketing manager, an analyst or even a financial manager are not necessarily "high" positions but entry positions. So, yes, these are possible positions for MIM graduates.

To find out where the graduates of a SPECIFIC school and program start to work (e.g., which industries, which firms, which countries and which positions) you have to contact the school as I outline in my MIM eBook. "Contacting the school" means several things as, for example, talking to the admissions managers, the current students but also talking to the alumni. Read the Chapter "ANALYZE PROGRAMS" to learn more how this works.

I agree with Kush that Grenoble is a good school. But even more important is Kush's second point: Is it the RIGHT or the BEST school for you? Again, read the MIM eBook and think about it using the frameworks offered there.

      Best wishes
      Thomas

Ishaan I have also done bachelor of business administration . I am also applying for January intake 2016 for Grenoble graduate school of business in Grenoble campus .

It's a good institution . It has been in ranks for many years . You can check the Financial Times rankings for master in management .

It's Grenoble and Paris campus are the main campus in France .

I don't know much about Singapore and other abroad campuses but the French campuses are highly regarded .

      It's a good program.

But see if the program fits in your career goals and then decide . There are many other institutions which offer master in international business in various parts of the world .

I would recommend reading e book in this mim compass this will help you more to understand in a better way.

You can get more better options and higher ranked universities by giving the GMAT exam but first see which course suits your career goals.

Contact universities to know how are the career services , which automobile companies are in their networks .

      Good luck
