Profile evaluation - Tips asked by an engineer

    Hi dear,
my name is Gianmarco, I am 23 years old. I am glad to have joined this community. I am Italian.
In December 2013 i graduated in Aerospace Engineering (bachelor degree), Now I am attending the master degree in Aerospace Engineering. I am studying at the Universita degli Studi di Napoli Federico II.

During these years I have understood that in my future i want to be involved in business and management matters, i don't want to work as simple engineer. I would like to be more than an employee, may be a manager. This is the why I am writing this post. I am evaluating the possibility to attend a master in management in a top rated university but I am not sure about when.

At the moment I am attending the master degree in Aerospace Engineering, the next month I will leave to Madrid thanks to the Erasmus program. I will attend courses to the Universidad Carlos III. I plan to finish my exams and graduate in 18/24 months from now ( i hope with the max graduation mark) . Then I will be 25/26 years old.

Do you think I will be too old for this kind of master?
Do you think I should cut off with my master degree and try to enter in a such master as soon as possible?

When I began my master degree I had no possibility to afford the cost of a top rated master. In addition in Italy the bachelor degree alone is not the best choice for who wants to have a good career. For these two reasons I decided to start the master degree in engineering even if I was not very happy about this master.
Now my family have had some income of money and we have the possibility to afford the fees.

About the GMAT: Last week I took an online test for the first time, without studying or having a previous preparation, I got a score of 530. I know that is too low for a top rated university but I am quite sure to improve with a good preparation.

P.s. I am going to read your ebook, I am sure it will help me to choose my way.

      Hi there,

I can understand your thoughts and they make sense to me in general. An alternative may have been to do a Master in Management directly after your Bachelor - but specializing with an engineering master was also an option. One of the key questions for the future will be whether you first start to work and follow up with an MBA later - or whether you follow up directly with a MIM. The admissions questions (e.g., GMAT score) will need to be answered AFTER that first question.

For the moment, I am sure my MIM eBook will be perfect for you. You will not only gain an overview of the educational landscape but also get inspired in your thining (e.g., when you learn about several options you have).

Have fun while reading! Read it thoroughly! Take your time to think about each chapter! And feel free to come back after that if you have more questions.

      Best wishes
      Thomas
