        Hi there,

of course you can expect that. The question is: What is a "decent" school or program for you?

For some people it is a top-5 ranked program, for others it is a program with a good reputation in the industry where the student wants to work later on (independent of the ranking position), for others it is just a cheap program with a decent education.

To develop a clearer picture of what you really need to achieve your career goals, I recommend you to read my MIM eBook (takes you a couple of hours). It will teach you the fundamental knowledge about Masters in Management (MIM) and also provides you with a methodology how to identify quality programs, compare programs, and finally identify programs that fit your profile.

        Best wishes

            Hi there,

I cannot answer this question. Of course, it can be a problem if you apply for highly selective schools. But you may still get admission to a "top 20 college" - however you define this - if your cv shows other assets or if the school is more open to other criteria.

Instead of saying "I target a top 20 college" I rather recommend you to determine thoroughly your career goals first and then specify what benefits you expect from a Master to help you achieve these goals. Maybe you don't need a "top 20 college" then anymore and find out that a decent school on ranking position 35 is the best for you.

Again, read my eBook first and LEARN the LOGIC of finding the best program and school! If questions are still open then, feel free to come back here.

      Hi there,

for a full-time MBA, most renowned schols expect a GMAT of 600 and more. For an Executive MBA, most schools don't expect the GMAT score, however. Their logic is: Why should they ask for a GMAT to prove a candidates potential if the same candidate has shown his potential already by work experience. Hence, the work (and ideally) leadership experience is most important.

Now, regarding the selection of a school you need a systematic approach. Otherwise, you will just consider some schools and programs here and there - without any structure.

I recommend you to read by MIM eBook for such a systematic approach. You may be able to skip the first 3 chapters and start immediately with chapter 4. But I recommend you even to read the first chapters, just to understand the broader picture. Once you have read this book thoroughly, you can apply the methodology at the MBA Compass and develop a list of target programs that fit your profile.

      Best wishes
      Thomas
