  • Posted by - stpk - on 19 January 2014 - 7:31am

    Hello Thomas,

    Happy 2014 to you!!

Please help me out on the below query..

I'm an Indian Graduate with 2 years of work ex..I completed my graduation in Information Technology and has been working ever since.

I've always had a penchant for Management and want to pursue MIM in Germany with IELTS.

Kindly provide a list of schools that give admission on IELTS alone with HR.

Also please advise if with my experience HR would be a good option

My academics are 91 in 10 97 in 12 and 76 in GRAD.

    Many Thanks,

    M.R.K

        Hi there,

thank you for your question. Here are some tips how you can find this out.

First, I would specify what kind of rankings you search for. Are you interested in the University of Bonn's ranking appearance with respect to its business and economy faculty? To its MBA programs? To its Master in Management programs? etc.

Second, I would carefully screen the websites of these universities. You should particularly read their "about" sections and the sections of the specific program you are interested in. Do you find information on rankings and placements?

Third, you can contact each school - by email or phone - and ask them to bring you in contact with current students or ex students. Then you can contact them to get first-hand information.

If you are interested in a first impression, maybe this ranking is what you are looking for. But you may need to specifically screen each university one by one to find out to what extent they can help you achieve your career goals.

        Best wishes
        Thomas

      Hi there,

thank you for your question. First, let's clarify the terminology. With 'MIM' I refer to Masters in General Management for recent graduates - not to Masters in Human Resources Management. The latter is a 'specialized Master', but not a MIM. Hence, in a Master in HR Management you gain specialized or expert knowledge whereas in a MIM program you get general management knowledge.

      As for general management:
With 2 years of work experience and likely 3 years of work experience when you actually start your Master's, you are a typical MBA candidate - not a Master in Management / MIM candidate. Please read about the differences between MBA and MIM here.

      As for HR management:
If you want to go for a Master in HR Management, I would look out for programs with older and more experience students. And even in this case, I would consider doing an MBA, maybe with a concentration in HR Management.

So, these are some general things to consider.

If you want t find out specific questions of eligibility, w.g., with IELTS, you need to check the schools' websites.

      Best wishes
      Thomas
