Profile Evaluation for ESSEC and HEC paris
Application & Admission

Hi Thomas,
I am applying to HEC Paris and ESSEC for MiM in the next two weeks and I am worried about my application.
I graduated from University of British Columbia from 2011 with a Bach. in Food Science. My GPA was 80% and I got a GMAT score of 710.
I did 4 co-op terms (4months each) at several companies mainly to do with microbiology (worked at Agriculture and Agri-Foods Canada, BC Centre for Disease Control) and quality assurance (Canadian Fishing Company) in food.
I am currently working as a QA tech (for about a year) in a dairy manufacturer. I deal with worker training, communications withe suppliers/distributors, goverment agencies, and food safety.
I am doing a MiM because I want to change my career path. Maybe get into the more business side of food rather than the scientific/technical aspects.
I have been busy studying for the GMAT for the past couple of months and my extra-curriculars have been non existant. Other than the occassional exercise class and going out with friends.
Do you think that will hurt my chances?
Thanks in advance,
Nikita

Hi there,
thank you for your question. Honestly, I don't see any reason why you should be worried. Your GPA is fine, your GMAT is great, and extra-curricular activities don't play much of a role. So, unless you have written an awful application or messed up your essays I am confident that you become invited for the interviews.
Best wishes
