Advise for LBS MiM interview
Posted by - akasina9 - on 17 November 2013 - 7:08am
Hi Thomas,
I applied to the MiM programme at LBS for the 2014 intake last month and received an interview call last week. I was hoping if you could throw some light on the usual format of the interview and the way to prepare for it.
I am placed in India and hence was told that my interviews would take place in February when the AdCom visits India. Is there any advantage if I can get the AdCom to conduct my interview earlier? Also, what is the relative importance of the interview in the overall application?

So how was your interview in the end?

Hi there,
thank you for your question. I don't know Adcom but I guess that they are briefed similarly as alumni so that the interviews are comparable.
As for the content, please have a look at this earlier thread.
Piece of paper - that should not be a problem.
Overall, I suggest that you relax and feel comfortable. Just try to concentrate and prepare your answers according to the topics that you can find in my earlier thread.
If you feel very uncomfortable, you can also ask the school to bring you in contact with a current student. Then you can ask him/her about how the interview went.
Best wishes

Hello Thomas,
I got selected for LBS too and was notified that my interview will be in March. But I was busy and thus requested them to pre-pone and they agreed.
A member of the Adcom will be conducting my interview now. I wish to know, how different the experience is- when the interview is conducted by an alum vis a vis by an Adcom member?
Moreover, what is their major focus? They intend to know about something the I did not mention in the application, whereas I already have! What are the different personality traits that we can discuss during the interview?
Is it alright to carry a piece of paper with just the headings of the many topics that I want to discuss with the interviewer?Thank you.

Hi Abhishek,
thank you for your question and congrats for the interview invitation! As for the interview content, please read this comment to learn more about it.
As for the timing, the LBS accepts application and grants admissions on a rolling process throughout the year. This means that applying earlier (and doing the interview earlier) may indeed offer some advantages as in a later stage less places are available.
As for the rating, a rule of thumb is that the interview accounts for 20 percent of the overall assessment.
Best wishes
