WU Vienna MSc Information Systems: Should I Accept

  • Posted by - adicool121 - on 4 April 2012 - 9:17pm

    Hello,
I have been accepted at Vienna University of Business and Economics for MSc Information Systems program for winter sem 2012.

I am confused regarding how good the program will be as its kind of newly launched, as well as how is the post degree job scenario in Austria (I am an international student from South Asia) - work permits, visa etc.

admins and other members, please throw some light on this !

      Hi there,

thank you for your message. I understand that joining a newly launched program is always a bit risky but it may also provide some opportunities such as for instance aiding the WU in actively developing the program. All I can say here is that the WU Vienna University of Business and Economics as an institution has a great name.

Your career / job prospectus questions basically are twofold if I get them rightly: The first has to do with formal stuff such as Visa or work permits. I have no idea here and you should easily find this out by contacting the program representatives or student office at the Vienna University - at least they will be able to connect you with the right person.

Your second question has to do with your actual career opportunities in Austria (or abroad) after graduation. Here you should also invest some time in research. For instance, you could talk to the program manager about their experiences in the past (and if not with that specific program then at least with a similar program). You could talk to current students if they exist. You could contact some of your potential future employers (HR departments) and ask them about their opinion on the progam.

I can bring you in touch with a very nice woman from the WU who is responsible for the Marketing of the WU Master programs. She may either answer some of your questions directly or at least bring you in touch with someone who may be helpful. Just let me know if you want me to.

I hope I could have been helpful.

      Best wishes
      Thomas
