Which one,Indian PGDM or MIM? for an Indian student

    Hi there,

I don't know why you cancelled a 660 GMAT score. No European school will decline you because of this score. You may be declined for other reasons - maybe because you don't have internships or something else that the school requires - but not because of a GMAT score of 660.

Whether you apply for a postgraduate degree in management or accept job positions depends on your satifsaction with your current job options. If you are happy with your current job options, I would go for this direction and see if you need/want more education in the future. If you are not happy with your job options right now, I would consider more education.

If you need more information on placement options and career outcomes of European degrees you need to analyze the respective programs. In my eBook Business Masters - How you find the best Master in Management or MBA you find guidelines how to do that.

    Best regards,
    Thomas

I have a 97.7 percentile in CAT and have calls from SPJIMR and a few IIMs
I had taken gmat and scored 660 which I cancelled as I was not satisfied
Should I stay in India cuz I have a few good calls here or should I apply abroad (Europe) after taking gmat again?
I'm interested only in placements and return on investment

    Hi there,

to find individual contacts for programs and schools you have two options:

    • Select the programs you are interested in by using the Search Engine at https://www.mim-compass.com, click on the link to th program's websites and search for "Contact" or "Admissions".

    • Click on the Logos on the right side of this website - e.g., London Business School, WHU, IE or HEC - and then on REQUEST INFO to send a message to the schools.

To gain an overview on Masters in Management and learn a specific method of analyzing and selecting them, please read my eBook "Business Masters: How you find the best Master in Management or MBA".

    Best regards,
    Thomas

hie thomas ! i am kaushik from India. i need your
help. Iam an engineering student,in final
semester. I dont want to continue in engineering.
i want to do finance. I have two options.
option 1: cat(india), iift , xat etc.. getting
into one of these, which is really a tough thing.
but, with practise i can manage. roi will be
around 12 lakh per annum and average fee to get
into these colleges will be 20 lakhs for 2 years
option 2: gmat . getting 600+ in gmat is, when
compared to cat,an easy thing. fee will be 20-30
lakhs for 2 years and return will also be the
    same.

    my profile: 10th std- 85%, 12th-66%, engineering
    (till now)- 70%
actively participated in colleges fests, games,
ngo member, 2 internships from automobile
    companies etc..
i already apply for cat and will be appearing on
29th. should i apply for indian pgdm colleges or
    directly take gmat?
    thanks in advance

Thanks Thomas! I meant on 29th of this month, I'll be giving cat. Should i rely on cat and other indian entrances or take gmat? That was my question. Anyway chances are less in cat compared to gmat. But the cost of applying to each college in gmat is more. How can i reduce that? And,is giving toefel or ielts along with gmat compulsory?

        Hi there,

I am sorry but I don't understand your sentence "the cost of applying to each college in gmat" - what do you mean by "in GMAT"?

You have a school and program wheer you want to apply to.
        You check the entry requirements.
GMAT needed - yes or no.
If yes, you do the GMAT.

Simple as that. Sorry if I ddn't get your point.

        Best
        Thomas

      Hi there,

I am not sure if I fully understand your question. Do you mean: Shall I rely on my CAT score and 29th rank and just apply? Or shall I also do the GMAT to potentially achieve better results?

Frankly speaking, I cannot help you here. It depends on the entry requirements of your colleges. If you are interested in SP Jain in Mumbai, keep in mind that they require a GMAT of 650 (confer my MIM Entry Requirements eBook where 54 schools answered to my questions and revealed their criteria).

Doing the GMAT may be an effort - but it may provide you with more options where to apply. Personally, I would do it.

      Best wishes
      Thomas
