Most of usa business schools offer master of business administration in USA and doesn't have work experience as a requirement
He has a good GPA .

His friends and relatives are already in USA and they suggested him to do 2-3 years work experience and then do MBA in USA
But he don't want break in his studies and he want to continue studying .

He says that he want to job in USA when he completes his masters education in USA .
He is looking at aacsb accredited schools
He has the following queries :

What should he do ? Is MBA doing without work experience is good ?
Are the universities offering MBA without work experience are good ? (The programmes are really good )
Will employers hesitate to employ if he has no experience and have done MBA ?

    Thanks vey much

      Dear Kush,

First, I strongly recommend your friend to read the Chapter "THE RIGHT TIMING" of my MIM eBook. Here I discuss the question about the right timing for a Master - e.g., the right timing for a MIM and for an MBA.

      • I discuss the advantages of doing a Master directly after the studies and of doing an MBA a few years later.
      • I even discuss the option of doing both - first a Master after graduation and then an MBA after some years.

So, my first advice for him or her is: Read this carefully and understand the logic of my thesis outlined there: that the only question that ultimately matters is: What does your colleague need RIGHT NOW.

Second, I recommend your friend to read carefully the Chapter "CAREER BENEFITS: How can a Master help you achieve your career goals?"

      • This is another key chapter in my eBook as it explains what benefits you can realistically expect from a Business Master - whether a MIM or MBA or a Master in Finance etc.
      • Of course, a Master or MBA is not only about Knowledge. It is also about Network advantages and Reputation advantages.
      • A key benefit of an MBA that requires work experience is that you profit from the work experience of your classmates and that HR managers come to campus to recruit you for more senior positions.
      • Logically, a MBA that does not require work experience does not offer this.

Bottom line: Don't confuse an MBA that does not require work experience with an MBA that does. These are two different things even if the three letters M B A are the same.

      • The good news is that a "real MBA" is not what your friend needs right now.
      • He or she needs either a good job now or an education that helps him or her get a job directly afterwards. Again: Read my Chapter about the right timing to reflect on what may be better.
      • Therefore, it is not only that your friend cannot study a traditional MBA (that requires work experience); he or she also does not need this type of education right now.

This leads to the final question: What does your friend need right now? And if he/she does not want to work now, what sort of education could help him or her to get a better job afterwards?

      • Tell your friend to read carefully my Chapter on CAREER GOALS and the Chapter on ANALYZING schools and programs.
      • In the CAREER GOALS Chapter, he/she will find tools to reflect his/herr direct goals. It is not sufficient to say "I want a job" - instead, it is about going deeper and becoming more precise. If someone wants to work as a consultant and if no consulting company recruits from a specific MBA program it does not make sense to study there.
      • In the ANALYZE chapter, here he or she learns how to analyze programs, contact the right people, and ask the right questions to assess the ultimate question: How would I profit if I decide for that program - whether it is a MIM or an MBA without work experience or a specialized business master?

So, the job is now on you or your students' side and I expect hard work first before more questions are asked here.

      Best wishes
      Thomas
