Qualification plan

    Hi,

Presently, am studying BA Business Psychology and am planning to study MSc in Logistics Management immediately after my undergraduate degree. I really wish to work in the Aviation industry (preferable in an airport). I hope to secure a job after the master’s degree so that I can again some experience (minimum 3years) to be able to do an MBA (Aviation Management).

    1. What is your view about my education plan?

    2. Should a Masters degree be generic (MIM) or specific (Logistics Management)?

    3. Is operations management same as logistics management?

                                                                                                               Thanks for your time.

      Hi there,

thank you for your question. Let me write down your plan:

      • BA Business Psychology
      • MSc in Logistics Management
      • Job entry in the Aviation industry (preferable in an airport)
      • Work for minimum of 3 years
      • MBA (Aviation Management).

"1. What is your view about my education plan?"
Your plan makes sense to me. Well developed and based on a proper understanding of the concepts Master vs. MBA.

      2. Should a Masters degree be generic (MIM) or specific (Logistics Management)?
I your case, I would go for a specific Master, for instance in Logistics Management because you
      a) want into that industry
      b) and your undergraduate degree has nothing to do with that industry

I would guess that a bit of industry specific knowledge IN ADVANCE would not hurt. You may also use your masters to build links into the industry, for instance with future employers - and these SPECIFIC links ususally are easier to find within a SPECIFIC program and the career service attached.

      3. Is operations management same as logistics management?
I am not an expert on this. Intuitively, they are not the same. Logistics is related to supply chain function. Operations are related to the production process and hence more then transformation of resources into products (wherever these resources come from - that is: whichever supply chains they use). But I may be wrong. Let me ask one of our partners schools (The KLU - Kühne University of Logistics) - maybe they have a better answer.

      best wishes
      Thomas
