    Hi,

I have been admitted to MSc Finance program in Strathclyde Business School this year.Although it is a triple accredited program and is in the FT World Top 50 Finance (pre- experience) rankings but me being a non EU student will it be a risk considering the limited post study opportunities in UK currently.I have to take a loan to pursue the course.

    Request advice on the matter.

      Hi there,

at the end of the day, you don't study because of a school's ranking positions or accreditations - but because of your career goals and interest.

As I outline in my eBook "Business Masters: How you find the best Master in Management or MBA", you need to (1) understand your own career goals and (2) understand the career benefits of a school, and then weigh both against each other.

If you study a MSc in Finance at a serious school such as the University if Strathclyde, you will learn a lot. So, you will have more competence afterwards as well as a postgraduate degree. This itself may help you find a good job, for example, in your home country. A school's career services provide you with another means to achieve your career goals - for example, if a school has good contacts to your target industry and important employers.

So, your job is to find out PRECISESLY about your career benefits at your target school. Just saying "Employement chances in the UK are small" is not sufficient. You should concretely analyze your target school's employement reports and talk to program managers, current students and ex-students (alumni) to find answres on questions such as "How much experience do you have with students from my country? Where did they find a job? Can I talk to a current student from my country?" and so on.

For more details, please read my eBook (Chapter TALK TO and READ).

Your decision in favor or against this program should be based on such a detailed annalysis. Also, I recommend you to identify more than one target program and apply at 3 or 5 programs. Again, see the important steps outlined in my eBook.

      Best wishes
      Thomas
