The Master’s in Management is a two-year, pre-experience program that combines classroom learning and corporate networking: Students complete up to 11 months of applied work with up to three different organizations in Germany and abroad.
Courses on campus complement the in-company experience with soft-skills training, two different learning streams, four competitive specializations, and guided research. Students complete work assignments abroad, learn a new language, and develop knowledge of how businesses develop and shape new technology and innovations. With all this experience during the program, graduates can make a difference from the first day in their career.
The Master's in Management at ESMT is designed to teach students how to take their skills, developed in undergraduate work, and use them in an applied business management setting.
Students complete the business core, focusing on key areas of business analysis and management strategy, including courses like Financial Accounting, Marketing Management and Business Economics. Students then complete an internship of up to 6 months. Current companies with internship partnerships with ESMT include Allianz, McKinsey, Siemens, Axel Springer, Bosch, Deutsche Post DHL, Deutsche Bank, E.ON, Gazprom and ThyssenKrupp. Students can intern at any company but are still required to apply themselves and pass the target company’s selection procedures.
Students complete a specialization in one of the following:
MIM candidates work in teams during a 1,5-month social impact project with an NGO, non-profit, or social venture.
While working on their Master’s thesis, students may seek the opportunity of a second internship and carry out their research with support from practitioners. Alternatively, particularly those who intend to pursue an academic career may opt for working on a thesis topic in close coordination with a professor’s own research agenda.
