What have you done before?

After I finished my Bachelor’s Degree in International Business Administration in Vienna with special focus on International Business in January 2013, I started an internship in the Marketing Department of a Mercedes car dealership in Austria. After working there for four months, I did an internship at Porsche AG in the Marketing Communications Department in Stuttgart. It was during my time in Germany, when I decided to apply for a Masters.

Why did I decide for the MIM with focus on Integrated Marketing Communications?

Before starting my Master’s Degree at IE I wanted to gain as much practical experience as possible in the corporate world. I believed that this would help me not only for achieving my future career goals but also when deciding on a specialization in my Masters. While doing my internship, I felt that a Master’s Degree would not only be essential but also extremely important to enhance my academic and personal skills.

Why did I decide on the IE Business School?

There are many reasons why I found IE a perfect match for me. After high school I spent 7 months in Madrid to learn Spanish. Additionally, I was doing an internship at a Spanish firm. I enjoyed Madrid a lot, especially its culture, daily life and people. It was back then that I decided that I had to come back some day.

IE Business School offers not only a Management Master but with it a specialization in Marketing. Working in Marketing has always been my biggest goal. Already when going to the United States during my Bachelor Studies for an exchange semester, my focus was on Marketing. Additionally my work at Porsche AG in the Marketing Communications Department made it clear that my future job should be within this area.

Finally, when evaluating my options, IE was on top of my list – not only due to my personal interests but also due to its location and its great reputation and ranking.

What experiences did you gain during the program?

When looking back at the past year, I can hardly imagine that it is actually already over. I can still recall my first day at IE where everything seemed so new and I did not know anybody. Well this changed within a day. Meeting so many people from different backgrounds and countries, being part of such a diversified working group and furthermore having great classes every day, made the time such a valuable experience.

How did you profit from it afterwards?

I definitely learned how to tackle problems in various ways. Reading and then solving a lot of cases in each subject, made me think out of the box. Meeting people from so many different countries, gave me the possibility of getting to know a bunch of different cultures and how they work there.

Would you recommend it?

Amazing, diverse & fun people, very-well ranked business school and extraordinary professors together with the perfect location Madrid, is why I would recommend it to anyone, who wants to do their Masters.
