  • Posted by - eleni_di - on 28 June 2013 - 12:45am

    Hello!!

I have to decide between 2 offers for master...
Marketing & Management or International Marketing master..??

Both are marketing masters but I believe that marketing & management has more wider range.

My ideal job would be in a multinational company and thats why I made an application for International Marketing.

Now, I am confused cause I dont know which will be a better option and the exactly differences...!!

    Any help, please..??

      Hi there,

thank you for your questions. I recommend to just pick the one that you like most. And if you like both programs equally, then I would take the cheaper one. And if they cost they same... well, if there are no differenvces at all, the why offering two sorts of programs...?

As for the job opportunities, again the career office is your target contact. They can provide you with information on where and how fast their graduates end up after graduation. This provides you with the most direct information on your opportunities.

Are the entry requirements the same? If yes, then likely also the career options are the same. If the entry requirements are different, however, then likely also the job prospects differ. Imagine that prgram A requires business or economics as first degree and program B not. This means that graduates from program A have an undergraduate degree in business + a master in marketing. Graduates from program B may have any undergraduate degree + the master in marketing. Hence, people from A may find jobs in companies that emphasize a full business education whereas graduates from B will find jobs in companies that are more open to peopel with all kinds of backgrounds.

Two more recommendations by which you can gain more certainty in your decision. First, contact your favorite employers (or their competitors) and the respective HR departments and try to find out whether they know or even recruit from your school - and whether it would make a difference for them in which of the two programs you graduates (I doubt that they care...).

Second, ask the school to bring you in contact with alumni from both programs and interview them (Skype...). Maybe they can provide you with insights into their own career process after graduation, how they profited from the studies and if they would do it again including their knowledge from today.

Overall, I think you are very close to your decision. You just need some more quality indicators to move on.

      Best wishes

      Hi there,

thank you for your question. Honestly, I wouldn't put too much emphasis on he titles. Instead, I would rather investigate in (1) the content and the (2) career prospects.

      (1) As for the content, that's the eaiest job. Just compare the two curricula including the core courses, the electives, and potential practical phases (such as in company projects or internships if they are included). Then you can see what attracts you more.

      (2) As for the career prospects, you need to find out at which companies and in which industries the graduates typically start to work afterwards, and how long it takes them to find a job. Then you compare the two programs again and you see which one you prefer.

      Your questions, for instance, are:

      • At which firms and in which industries do the respective graduates work after graduation?
      • Particularly, which companies come to campus to recruit?
      • How many percent found a job within 3 months after graduation?

Screen the schools websites regarding statistics on this topic. And contact the career office then and see what they answer you.

      Best wishes

        Hello!

        Thank you for your answer!

Both offers are from the same school.
In the International Marketing there are 4different modules relates to international strategy - market..
In the Marketing & Management...in the 1st semester there are some modules that focus in economics, finance, accounting and then tha same modules..

The courses are not sooo different!
The marketing & management is also accredited from Association of MBAs. and there is one elective course "International school" which will be in EADA, Barcelona.
The school has the triple accredtitation.

I prefer a lillte bit more the content of International Marketing..but with no big difference from the other!!
As both are in the same university, the companies, the career events and the employability is the same...

My goal is the marketing or human resource department of a multinational company... or events and advertising..

But what are the different job opportunities that each one could give in the future..?

        Thank you!!
