Enquiry regarding the degree awarded

    Hi,
I would be delighted to get your valuable insight, I got an admit at IUBH for MIM my only concern is the degree awarded is MA and not Msc, from various inputs I heard the degree is not going to matter with respect to finding jobs, is it true? and how are the job markets in germany for management students, is mandatory to have supreme german language skills like b2 or c1 to land a job in germany?

I am from an engineering background with a degree in information science, would prioritise IT management as my specialisation, your insight would be valuable and this site was very helpful.

      Hi MrThomas Graf,

Firstly, thank you for replying, I got the answer to my questions. I will surely put a word onto IUBH as I will be having a skype conversation with them this wednesday.

Secondly, after analysing many criterias I have decided to join IUBH, It would be helpful if you have any other information about the college that might help me, as you are a german. :). how do you rate the university and the city bad honnef, how is IT market in germany as I have intended to take IT management as my specialisation, and my previous education and exp is on IT.

And my last question is, my course offers a dual degree I am in a dilemma whether to go for it or not, having a dual degree is an added advantage ? will it boost my profile?

      Thank you

        Hi there,

I don't provide information on specific schools as finding this out is the job of the applicants. But I do assist them on their way of finding information.

A good way for you to get information on IUBH's career perspective is by talking to them and their alumni. Ask them about where their graduates end up, how fast they find a job and which firms and industries. Als ask them to bring you in contact with alumni so that you can call them and ask the same question, but from their personal perspective. This is much more effective than thinking about "THE" IT market in Germany as a whole.

As for the dual degree, well, think about it. Which benefit do YOU see in it. It's always better to think first and then ask other people. Write down a list of advantages and disadvantages, from your personal perspective.

Then ask the schools what benefit they see in it. And ask the students that went through the program. Then bring this together with your own list of advantages and disadvantages. And see if your problem is solved. If you still have doubts feel free to come back here - but let me know your results and thoughts first.

        Best wishes

      Hi there,

congrats to the acceptance at IUBH. It is true that the degree - MSc or MA - plays no role with respect to employers. Also, academically, it is the same level. Often times, schools just grant a MSc for a concurrent master (for which you need to have done your bachelor degree in a similar area as the master) and an MA for a non-concurrent master (where the area of your undergrads is irrelevant).

As for the language requirements: Well, that depends. I know non-Germans working in Munich for instance where the language is English (e.g., Cisco). In general, I recommend to learn German, however. I mean it is a good opportunity during your studies.

By the way, I would appreciate if you let IUBH know about the MIM Compass (e.g., that you like it and that it helped you).

      Best wishes
      Thomas
