Confused about EDHEC

  • Posted by - samarpitarya - on 12 April 2013 - 5:05am

    Hi,

I have been selected for the MIM program(Business Management) in EDHEC and i have to pay the first installment of my fee by 24th of April but i am very worried about the job prospects. I am an Indian student and DON'T wish to come back to India after MIM. My aim is to get a job in Europe and work there for atleast first 5 years of my career. I don't speak any other language apart from English and Hindi. So, taking my final aim into consideration can you please guide me whether i should go for it or not?

    Thanks

      Hi there,

I understand your concerns. To become saver about your job prospects, here are some things you can do:

      • Let the school's admissions office know about your doubts and see how they answer you. Do they take your concerns serious? Do they have a satisfying answer for you that mitigates your doubts?
      • Contact the school's career service and ask them: (1) How much experience do they have with placing people from India after the MIM? If they never placed someone from India (or Asia in general)... well, maybe not a good sign. Also ask them where these people started to work. Does their answer satisfy you?
      • Ask the school's admissions team to bring you in contact with (1) current student from India or Asia in general, and (2) ex students (alumni) from India or Asia - and call/skype them....
      • Also ask the school how many MIM graduates found a job within 3 months after graduation.

This pre-evaluation is important because you receive two sorts of information: First, you receive the actual information that you are loooking for. Second, you receive an information about how well the school treats you, how serious it takes your concerns, how competent it is, and how well it wants to serve you. Of course, you never have a guarantee for jobs - but such a pre-evaluation can increase the likelihood for it.

      Best wishes
      Thomas
