Semester 2

At the beginning of the second semester you indicate whether you want to opt for the MSc Marketing or the MSc Marketing (Specialism).

Route 1: MSc Marketing

Route 2: MSc Marketing (Specialism)

Selecting this route involves studying:

- Marketing and Communications Professional Analytics*
- Two elective course units from Route 1 list
- Specialism core module
- Specialism-focused dissertation

It is your responsibility to ensure that your choice of options conforms to the requirements of the specialism that you wish to register for.

* Marketing and Communications Professional Analytics is a dual-semester module worth 30 credits

Summer research period

Research dissertation (60 credits)

You must complete a satisfactory dissertation.
Dissertation topics reflect the expertise of lecturers and you may be asked to choose from a list of options. Subsequently you will be allocated to one of these options.

Supervision often starts with small groups of students studying similar topics meeting with their supervisor, who then guides them on the focus for their individual dissertations. The dissertation normally consists of a literature review which drives a piece of empirical work, involving qualitative or quantitative research. Examples of topics include:

• Perceptions of service quality
• The use of the internet by charities
• Relationship marketing in professional services
• Category management
• Ethnic minorities and acculturation and new product development.

These are just a small sample of the topics undertaken by recent students.
