"My name is Philipp Sauren, I’m 27 years old and from Germany. In August 2010 I graduated from Hult International Business School with the Master of International Business. Recently I started working as an Analyst for Accenture in Germany. Prior to my Master studies I completed my Bachelor of Arts (Hon) in International Business Management at the Heidelberg International Business Academy. During my time at Hult I was involved in several exciting projects and clubs, such as the Consulting Club or the Finance Club.
Throughout my studies, I was involved in several extracurricular activities. For example, I was working with a small group on a consulting project, advising a business on current issues. Based on research and meetings we developed a new marketing and business development strategy and advised them on implementation.
Additionally, as an executive member of the Hult Consulting Club London, I organized with the other consulting clubs the Hult Global Case Challenge (HGCC) 2010 in London. Moreover, I was also involved in the yearbook committee and enjoyed helping the recruitment teams to organize networking events, both in London and Germany.
Through the practice-oriented classes, as well as the different projects focused on analysis and classroom discussion, I was well-prepared for the corporate arena and my current position as analyst at Accenture. Complemented by presentation skills sessions and speaker series, I have been well-prepared to handle business challenges that may arise.
I would say the way I personally developed through the one year at Hult gave me a competitive edge over other candidates. Next to technical competencies you learn in class, it is very important to learn how to present yourself, develop your soft skills, and get to know to your strengths.
The overarching point of differentiation Hult provides is definitely the diversity of the program. The chance to work with so many people from so many different countries not only gave me the opportunity to expand my perspectives on business, but also pushed me to explore cultural norms previously unknown to me.
All of the classes were so interesting and engaging and I learnt from real life examples used by my professors as well as from my fellow classmates.
Professor David Faulkner’s course on Strategy, and Professor Hitendra Patel’s course on Consulting Methods were brilliant and both professors really appealed to me because of their expansive and impressive knowledge.
I have so many unforgettable memories from my year at Hult. The class discussions with all students about the most diverse topics, the projects like the HGCC and the yearbook, as well as the different professors and their fascinating lectures, have all really made a great impact on my life."
