Hi everyone,

In this post I would like to talk about last month’s experiences and the exciting times that lie ahead of me.

Master of Global Logistics: Exchange with Partner Universities

As you might already know, if you are interested in getting your Master Degree at the KLU, in the second year of studies all the students have the chance to travel abroad to study at one of the partner universities. We have a choice between:

  • USA - Ohio State University
  • France - EM Strasbourg and Université de Rennes
  • Mexico - Instituto Tecnologico y de Estudios Superiores de Monterrey)
  • China - Tongji University
  • South Korea - Pyeongtaek University
  • Netherlands - Erasmus University of Rotterdam
  • India - Delhi Business School
  • Austria - Wirtschaftsuniversität Wien
  • Columbia - Universidad de los Andes

My first choice was Tongji University in Shanghai, China. The first reason for this would be the huge chance to discover a totally different culture during the 4 months I will spend there. I am very excited about this opportunity and I’m already making plans and reading everything I can about China. I intend to explore some other countries while I’m there, such as Japan, South Korea and Thailand.

Getting closer to practice: Summer internship

Another part of our studies is a summer internship that we can attend almost anywhere in the world. It’s a great chance to acquire more practical skills and to apply what we’ve learned and also to find out what kind of working environment we would prefer in the future. As I have not had any serious jobs yet, this internship is very important to me because it gives me the chance to experiment and to see what the rest of my life could look like in the workplace.

Learning to work faster and more efficiently

Meanwhile, we are currently in the middle of our third trimester. Since my first post here, things have changed. We have been working together such a lot on all the papers, projects and presentations, we have become used to each others’ working ways and it’s somehow getting easier and easier. As a result, we are working faster and more efficiently. And isn’t this a good thing?

Becoming more adaptable in worklife

One of the program goals was to make us more adaptable in our worklife. We should be able to work in changing conditions with people from other cultures than ours and to be able to carry out many tasks at the same time. I do believe that in the past nine months since the program has started, that we have fully achieved that.

Overall, what have I learnt in my Master?

In just a few weeks, the third trimester will be over and we will all start our internships. What I like the most at the moment is the fact that we are all in the midst of planning and organizing the next year of our lives. Right now it seems to me that the time has passed extremely fast (only one year left!).

So with this I’ve reached the end of my blog and as usual ask myself: what have I learnt? Many things…to be flexible, to use my time productively and to believe that I can always achieve more. And I’m very happy about that.

Take care and see you soon!

Silvia
